The homeowner of this house flew to Cyprus from the UK, where she had lived for 11 years. For her, comfort means elegant, refined items in the spirit of Neoclassicism. This style seemed at odds with the straight lines of the columns and beams in her modern Cypriot home.

There were only three months, and it was summer - meaning just two months after accounting for August. We decided to focus on furniture and décor. But during the collage discussions, it became clear that true comfort couldn’t be achieved without architectural changes.
The Home of a Wise Woman
The kitchen needed an update, the hallway lacked a wardrobe, and the master bathroom felt too cramped. We decided to take a risk and develop the layout as if time were no object.

The house was transformed beyond recognition. We managed to conceal the beams and restore proper geometry to the rooms. The collages featured plaster moldings, tall baseboards, and a stone-clad fireplace in a neoclassical style. We crossed our fingers and went to negotiate the new timeline an additional six months.

By that time, the homeowner had embraced the island’s unhurried rhythm, and the collages, reminiscent of misty Albion, had won her heart. She said “yes.”
What if she hadn’t taken this step?

The interior would have remained only in our imagination, and the house would have been a compromise, vaguely reminiscent of British comfort.

Now, this intimate, warm-filled space reflects her character - wisdom, gentleness, and inner strength. We became friends, and every time we visit, she greets us with beet soup served in pristine white porcelain.
